The Regional Risk Management function represents a key building block in protecting the company and its balance sheet while supporting risk/return considerations and monitoring emerging Operational and IT risks. Given the nature of our business in the Benelux region, the full risk universe is covered (life to non-life, financial to strategic). Who are we?

The Enterprise Risk Management team is responsible for operational, strategic and project risk management. Core tasks are assessing, monitoring and steering the integrated risk and control framework as well as supporting and challenging the risk owners of the first line of defence. Recurring alignment with department heads and reporting to senior management are part of the day to day activities.

What will your role be?

As Enterprise Risk manager, you will play a critical role in the second line of defence to ensure the company is resilient to strategic and emerging risks. You will be responsible for tracking and assessing the top risks of the company, aligning with senior stakeholders and providing reporting materials to the Board of Management. You will work together with operations, compliance, sales and distribution and market management teams among others to anticipate emerging risks. 

A key component to be successful in this role is to build collaborative and trusting relationships with business leaders and colleagues throughout the three line of defence model.

Your responsibilities:

  • You are responsible for identifying the top risks of the companies and work with colleagues to ensure these are properly tracked and managed.
  • You will organize the quarterly risk reporting to the Board of Management and Risk Committee.
  • You will identify the key risks in processes, activities and projects, but also proactively propose solutions to mitigate these
  • You support and challenge the risk owners of the first line of defence in managing and monitoring their risks
  • You will coordinate the testing of controls, and follow-up on operational/reputational events impacting the stability of the company
  • You will build and nourish close working relations with your stakeholders. 

This is you: 

  • You have at least a Master’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Knowledge of the insurance market (e.g. product design, sales & distribution channels, underwriting processes, market sensitivity, NPS, etc.) is required / a must.
  • Min five years of related experience in insurance.
  • Able to communicate fluently in English
  • Excellent communicator / strong stakeholder management
  • Ability to communicate clearly on complex topics and present to the Board of Management on the spot
  • Travelling in the Benelux
